Quilting + College Football = Happy Saturday
With the sounds of helmets hitting and whistles blowing in the background, I stitched the final stitch of my 2010 quilt! A blend of bold colors and whimsical prints from designers Anna Maria Horner and Heather Bailey - all stitched together to the tune of Amy Butler's quilt pattern - makes for a bohemian and free-spirited covering for our Master Bed. I machine pieced and machine quilted most of it.
I love the look and energy of hand-quilting, though, and so I decided to hand quilt around the "bulbs" (which also served as a way to applique them on). I made a larger stitch, using perle cotton embroidery thread, which you can learn how to do here. It goes much more quickly and looks really pretty.
Here is how it looks on our bed - my question is - what to hang above the bed on the wall? Any ideas?

So cute! I love it! A floral painting of red peonies or tuilips with lots of green and yellow would look beautiful I think!
